AdBlue warning and no-start countdown: what to do
An AdBlue countdown may concern low fluid or an emissions-system fault. Read the full message before assuming a top-up will resolve it.
What it can indicate
Vehicles with selective catalytic reduction monitor the system as well as fluid supply. A low-level warning differs from a system-malfunction warning. Depending on the fault and vehicle, a countdown can lead to a restart restriction; it is not a timer to ignore until the last mile.

Put the symptom in context
A registration check can show available MOT history and recorded advisories. It does not diagnose the cause of a current fault.
How urgently should you act?
Arrange action before the countdown expires. Follow the handbook's topping-up and recognition procedure for a genuine low-level message. Do not put AdBlue in the fuel tank or bypass emissions controls. A continuing system fault requires diagnosis, even if the tank has been filled.

Useful observations before an inspection
Photograph the complete warning while parked and note the amount and specification of any recent refill. Do not guess that the display is merely slow to reset. If the car will not restart, seek assistance rather than repeatedly attempting to override the restriction.

What a garage may test and what drives cost
A workshop may check level information, dosing, sensors, wiring and fault data. Diagnosis should establish the failed function before replacing a tank or sensor. Cost varies with access and assembly design; a fluid purchase and an emissions-system repair are different jobs.

What history can tell a used-car buyer
Ask a seller to resolve a countdown before purchase and provide the diagnostic record. MOT history does not prove that a current SCR fault is fixed. AutoAudit adds recorded-history context but cannot reset a countdown or test dosing equipment remotely.

- AdBlue no-start risk in recorded history
Keep current warning interpretation separate from historic notes.
- DPF warnings
DPF and AdBlue are different systems even when both concern diesel emissions.
